Introduction

Orockle is trying to fight against the destructive Hive Born. You can do the following missions for him. You can accept all missions at once, and each mission counts as an action against the Hive Born, required to advance the hive stage. 200 actions in one day (by the entire server) will increase the stage of the hive, where the stronger areas will be accessible. During stage 3, the hive will be open for a week. On the last day of stage 3 the points must be accumulated in order to revert to stage 2, otherwise it goes back to stage 1.

Note: You can ask the Guide NPCs about the Hive world change to find out what stage is active and how many actions have been taken today.

Orockle will give you the items you need for the missions, but if you lose them you will need to buy them from him for 150-200gp each. Alternatively, you could borrow the mission items from someone else, as you don't lose them when turning missions in.

First Stage

Guide NPCs: The hive is well defended and prepared for war. ...

The first stage missions are to blind the hive (Antenna Blinding), disrupt its digestion (Disrupt The Hives Digestion), gather acid (Dissolved Chitin), or disable swarm pores (Pore Stuffing). Each stage 1 mission gives 1 war experience, 1 favour and 1000 experience points.

Antenna Blinding

Orockle will give you a Strange Powder. Travel around the east side of the Hive, search for small hill-like structures and use the powder on any of their antennae to disrupt their communications.

Antenna Blinding

You must use the powder on 8 different antennae.

Return to Orockle when you are done and you will receive your rewards. By repeating this mission you can get achievements:

Disrupt The Hives Digestion

Orockle will give you a Blob Bomb. Travel to the far eastern side of the Hive and in a small hive pyramid go down 2 floors. Use the Blob Bomb (like a rune or a fishing rod, from a distance) on 7 Floor Blobs.

Digestion Floor Blob

Return to Orockle when you are done and you will receive your rewards. By repeating this mission you can get achievements:

Dissolved Chitin

Orockle will give you 8 Flask of Chitin Dissolver and a Swarmer Drum. You must kill 8 Crawlers and use the Flask of Chitin Dissolver on their fresh corpses to dissolve their chitin. When done, you will have flasks of dissolved chitin.

On the surface of the hive, use the swarmer drum. This will summon a Swarmer Hatchling which you should then feed the Flask of Dissolved Chitin to (use the flask on it). Immediately the Hatchling will travel to Orockle who will collect acid from it. Do this until all flasks have been used. You must wait 30 seconds to reuse the drum.

Tip: You are given 8 Flask of Chitin Dissolvers but you are not limited in how many times you can receive Flask of Dissolved Chitin. You can buy a lot of chitin dissolver and dissolve chitin in bulk. In addition, you can use the drum as long as you have the task and haven't poisoned 8 Swarmer Hatchlings. You can ask other players to summon swarmers for you, making it even quicker.

Return to Orockle when you are done and you will receive your rewards. By repeating this mission you can get achievements:

Pore Stuffing

Orockle will give you a Gooey Substance. Travel to the east side of the Hive area and use the Gooey Substance on 7 Hive Pores. They summon three Lesser Swarmers from time to time so beware of being trapped.

Disable Hive Pore

After using Gooey Substance, Lesser Swarmers vanish and the pore changes to Overgrown Hive Pore for 60 seconds before returning. After disabling 7 Hive Pores you will receive a message indicating you are done with the mission. You can disable the same pore 7 times, but it will be quicker to do different pores.

Disable Hive Pore2

Return to Orockle when you are done and you will receive your rewards. By repeating this mission you can get achievements:

Second Stage

Guide NPCs: The defences of the hive are breached. The hive structure to the east is open ...

The second stage missions are to kill the guards (Kollos Killing) or break the control crystals (Destroy The Hive Crystals). During this stage you can also complete missions from stage 1.

Each stage 2 mission gives 2 war exp, 2 favour and 1500 experience points.

Kollos Killing

Orockle will instruct you to kill the Hive's guards. Kill 9 Kollos which can be found on higher floors of the eastern Hive structure (2nd stage) or in all levels (including ground) of the western Hive structure (3rd stage).

Return to Orockle when you are done and you will receive your rewards. By repeating this mission you can get achievements:

Destroy The Hive Crystals

Orockle will give you a Reagent Flask. Travel into the Hive and use the flask on the corpse of a Spidris. You will get a flask of Aggressive Fluid, this fluid last few minutes only (2?). Use it on Insectoid Monolith to destroy it, the monoliths recovers in 5 minutes. You have to refill the flask on another Spidris' corpse and repeat breaking 5 times in total.

Return to Orockle when you are done and you will receive your rewards. By repeating this mission you can get achievements:

Third Stage

Guide NPCs: The hives defences have fallen. Its armies are confused and in shambles. All structures are open for invaders. ...

In this stage you can do missions from 1st and 2nd stages as well as access the reward room which is located on top floor of western Hive structure, going up here. No new missions are available during stage 3.

Rewards

Doing the missions earns War Exp points and Favour points: the first stage missions are worth 1 point each, and the second stage missions are worth 2 points each. To enter reward rooms you have to buy special pheromone from Orockle (say "reward", "yes") for 50 favour (it will last for one week) which will grant you access to the areas behind Hive Gates, except those guarding the eastern and western towers).

The Insectoid outfit and addons are obtained by doing tasks. You can get the outfit with 300 war exp, the first addon with 500 war exp, and the second addon with 1000 war exp. The war exp is not consumed, so you only need 1000 war exp, not (300 + 500 + 1000).

There is 1 Hive Gate on every floor on the eastern structure, and every floor on the western structure. Behind each structure you can find Hive Cells which can each be used weekly to obtain 1 Gooey Mass. This means every week you can get up to 16 Gooey Masses just behind the gates. However, be prepared because there are many enemies waiting for you behind each of the hive gates.

The underground of the western tower is home to the Hive Born Bosses: Chopper, Fleshslicer, Maw, Mindmasher, Rotspit and Shadowstalker. They reside in a strongly guarded room (many Hive Overseers) and each of them have a chance to drop Dung Ball (Quest), which gives 10 War Exp towards the Insectoid Outfits. Note that they give 10 war exp and not 10 favour, so you cannot use it to regain entry without doing tasks.

The Hive Bosses are located here

At any time, you can check your war exp and favour by checking the quest log. You can also check the amount of each task completed this way.

You can get the following achievements by completing any mission:

Transcripts

First stage

Mission: Antenna Blinding

Player: Hi
Orockle: Greetings pilgrim! I sense you are here to fight the Hive Born.
Player: Fight
Orockle: You can help in the fight against the hive. There are several missions available to destabilise the hive. Just ask for them if you want to learn more. After completing many missions you might be worthy to get a reward.
Player: Mission
Orockle: You could try to blind the hive, you might disrupt its digestion, you could gather acid or you can disable the swarm pores. ...
Orockle: Due to our recent success, the hives' defences are broken and it is also possible to kill the guards or to break the control crystals ...
Orockle: You can always quit a mission of course.
Player: Blind
Orockle: You might have noticed the antennae that grow out of the hive structures sometimes. With them the hive communicates with the Hive Born. If you mess up the antennae, their communication is disrupted. ...
Orockle: Soldiers will not be deployed or reinforced anymore, workers won't build or repair where it is needed. All you have to do is use a bag of this blinding powder on them. Do you want to take this mission?
Player: Yes
Orockle: Fine. You'll have to blind 8 of the antennae. I'll await your return. If you lose the powder, you'll have to buy new one.

Mission: Disrupt The Hives Digestion

Player: Hi
Orockle: Greetings pilgrim! I sense you are here to fight the Hive Born.
Player: Digestion
Orockle: In some regards, the hive is a living thing. To disrupt its digestion is a blow on the hive itself. I will give you some projectiles, fuelled by the acid of the Hive Born themselves. ...
Orockle: Use them in the digestion chambers underneath the small hive pyramid far east of the pools of dread. I will mark it on your map. ...
Orockle: Look for the knots of transported nutrients and aim at them with the acid bag. You will recognize them as blobs moving under the floor. Destroy 7 of them. This way the hive will get 'sick'. ...
Orockle: Do not destroy more, else the room might fill up with digestive acid and you'd be nothing more than hive-food yourself. Do you want to take this mission?
Player: Yes
Orockle: Fine. I'll await your return. Remember though, the bomb is unstable and will dissolve after some time. Of course you can always buy new ones.

Mission: Dissolved Chitin

Orockle: You can always quit a mission of course.
Player: Acid
Orockle: For the sabotage of the hive we need a supply of dissolved chitin from the Hive Born which we can turn into a potent acid. The crawlers offer the best of it. ...
Orockle: To gain the acid we will have to turn the hive against itself. Use a dissolver on the corpse of a crawler that has died just a short moment ago. Then use the drum I'll give you to call one of the swarmer hatchlings that I could tame. ...
Orockle: Feed the dissolved chitin to the hatchling. It will return imediately to me and turn the digested fluid into a potent acid. Feed it 8 units of dissolved chitin and return to me. You can only call a hatchling on the ground level though. ...
Orockle: Do you want to take this mission?
Player: Yes
Orockle: Fine. I'll await your return. If you lose a dissolver, you'll have to buy a new one.

Orockle: You can use a special goo to disrupt the spawn pores of the hive in the east. Disable 7 of them to stop their threat. Do you want to take this mission?
Player: Yes
Orockle: Fine. I'll await your return. If you lose a dissolver, you'll have to buy a new one.

Player: Yes
Orockle: Fine. I'll await your return.

Mission: Destroy The Hive Crystals

Player: Hi
Orockle: Greetings pilgrim! I sense you are here to fight the Hive Born.

Orockle: In the hive you can find ominous crystals. With them, the will of the hive is focused and transmitted. Destroy 5 of them to plunge the hive into chaos! Do you want to take this mission?
Player: Yes
Orockle: Fine. Take this reagent. Use it on a dead spidris to turn it into a volatile and acidic fluid. It will be able to destroy one of the crystals but then you have to refuel it on another spidris's corpse. I'll await your return.

Quit a Mission

Player: Hi
Orockle: Greetings pilgrim! I sense you are here to fight the Hive Born.
Player: Quit
Orockle: Are you sure you want to quit your current mission? Your progress in your old task will not be lost.
Player: Yes
Orockle: So be it. Should you choose to start it again, you can ask me for missions as soon as you feel ready.
Or...
Orockle: You need to wait 30 minutes before you can quit another mission.

Buying Special Pheronome

Player: Hi
Orockle: Greetings pilgrim! I sense you are here to fight the Hive Born.
Player: Rewards
Orockle: Your efforts are recommendable (1170/50). If you wish, I grant you a treatment with a pheromone that will allow you to access some of the best guarded rooms in the hive. ...
Orockle: But you need to know that the pheromone will wear off after a week and that you can only access the rooms when the hive is weakened and open. When the pheromone wears off, you'll have to put new efforts into our war to get another reward. ...
Orockle: Remember that you can only collect your reward if the Hive has already started to open itself. So, do you want your reward now?
Player: Yes
Orockle: So be it! Keep in mind it will wear off after a week, though. Don't worry, you can't be trapped there. It is always possible to leave the mentioned rooms.
