Alternate Hotkey Configurations

This is a tutorial on how to make multiple sets of hotkeys.
Note: It is a little advanced and requires a little bit of computer knowledge

1. Start Tibia. Set the hotkeys you wish to use for your first hotkey set then close the client.
2. Go to the following folder

Under Windows Vista and Windows 7:
C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\Tibia

Under Windows 2000 and Windows XP:
C:\Documents and Settings\[USERNAME]\Application Data\Tibia

Alternatively you can press Start, then Run and type in "%appdata%/tibia/"
3. Copy and paste the Tibia.cfg file and re-name it to Hotkeys1.cfg
Tip Apr 2009 Alt hotkeys
  • Repeat steps 1-3 with your second set of alternative hotkeys. Copy and paste the Tibia.cfg and change its name to Hotkeys2.cfg

To create more simply replace the number in the file name to 3, 4, ect..

Next you will create 2 Batch files (*.bat) that you can use to open Tibia with different hotkeys:

  • Press Start, then Run and type in "notepad %appdata%/tibia/hotkeys1.bat"

Click yes to create new file. In the notepad paste the following:

copy hotkeys1.cfg tibia.cfg /y
c:
cd "c:\program files\tibia\"
start c:\PROGRA~1\tibia\tibia.exe

(Use PROGRA~1 in place of "Program Files", because as you cant use quotes with "start" command, you cant have space in the directory. Use PROGRA~2 in place of "Program Files (x86) in case of using 64-bit Windows, with Tibia installed in the 32-bit directory).

  • Press Start, then Run and type in "notepad %appdata%/tibia/hotkeys2.bat"

In the notepad paste the following:

copy hotkeys2.cfg tibia.cfg /y
c:
cd "c:\program files\tibia\"
start c:\PROGRA~1\tibia\tibia.exe

(Use PROGRA~1 in place of "Program Files", because as you cant use quotes with "start" command, you cant have space in the directory. Use PROGRA~2 in place of "Program Files (x86) in case of using 64-bit Windows, with Tibia installed in the 32-bit directory).

  • Save both files. and Create shortcuts on your desktop to the MS-DOS Batch files.
  • Re-name shortcuts to whatever you desire.

From now on use the MS-DOS Batch to open Tibia, it will set the hotkeys you configured, open Tibia.exe and command window will close itself.
To change the shortcut Icons to look like the Tibia icon, right-click on the shortcut and click properties.
Select "Change Icon" navigate you your Tibia folder and click Tibia.exe.

Word of Warning This file contains many settings for your Tibia account so create a backup of it in case something happens to the original file.

Or, you can just simply do this:

1. Copy your existing Tibia folder located in: C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Roaming\Tibia

2. Paste the folder in the same location and name your map to for example Tibia Knight

3. Copy your other Tibia folder located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Tibia - OBSERVE: Can also be Program Files if you are an XP user.

4. Paste that folder in the same location (requires administrative rights). Name the folder to Tibia Knight or similar to your previous paste.

5. Copy the Tibia.exe file and make a shortcut on your desktop (or anywhere). Right-click and go properties. In the field where it ends with Tibia.exe" ADD THIS:

path "C:\Users\[your username]\Appdata\Roaming\Tibia Knight (OR what you named your map)

Repeat the steps to create several different settings.
