there's a part that have been edited... but i had to edit it back..

Quote:

Note that some words have double meaning like GS, it could means Giant Spider or Giant Sword. How to know which one is in game?, easy, if you hear:
Help Lured GS!, Who will run from a Giant Sword?
Selling GS, Offer!!, Why Would Someone want to buy a Giant Spider?

So, just use logic

In that part, im bein...Sarcastic.... obviously...i know that in the first sentence, GS means Giant Spider, and in the second one, Giant Sword. --Lord de los Druidas 13:38, 16 Jun 2005 (EDT)
So please, dont change that...

Redirect or not?[]

I'm looking for some input on this page. There are a number small pages in this wiki (like Lol, HRH and others) that deal with acronyms. Since all of this information is on this one page... should there be redirects for each of them to this page, or should they each (at least the really common ones) have their own pages, and just give links to this page?

This one page is very large, and it may be difficult to find something in it, but it seems unneccessary to have a lot of very small pages with only one or two sentences on them, and I am afraid that it may become a knightmare to keep it all straight.

What do you think?  Quisque comoedus est

Yes the smaller pages should be redirected here. i think lol is already on this list anyways so no point in another page. the redirects should go directly to the sub list so lol goes to> #Redirect [[TibiaLanguage#Miscellaneous]]. On another note this page could be a bit more specifically organized in the miscellaneous section, and maybe add more subsections, such as HRH could be apart of In Game Terms or something. --DM ><((°> Contribs <°))>< talk to me 12:08, 26 January 2006 (CST)

That's kind of what I was thinking, too. Redirects won't actually take you to the sub-list, though. There's a technical reason that it doesn't work, but I won't explain it here unless you want me to. The only other thing that was stopping me from doing that, is from a user standpoint.... if someone uses an acronym I don't know in the game, I won't want to go searching through a large list that might not even have it in there. For usability, it would be best to just have the small page saying what it means, and then a link to the larger list, but it still seems like a waste to me. This would also make it a lot harder to maintain this list, needing to change 2 or more pages with each update. I'm still not convinced one way or the other, but I think something needs to be done.

clean up article[]

Late response but: doesn't having all these pages go against TibiaWiki:Policy?

  1. Off-topic content. All content should be strictly about the MMORPG Tibia, which is run by CipSoft GmbH. Whilst it would be nice to have a wider range of diversity in what is allowed, this option is best in the long run.
  2. No nonsensical Articles Articles should be strictly about actual in-game content; no nonsense made-up items should appear in the Wiki. When creating a new page, you should be able to authenticate your claim that the item actually exists, etc.

since common online abbreviations for such things like Lol or Rofl etc. aren't 'relating to Tibia' other than people say it a lot, I think instead, redirecting to one large page would be for the best (since this page contains game related things such as abbreviations for tibia related things, and spells etc.) and doesn't necessarily go against the policy. I redirected Lol, Rofl and Lmao to Tibia Language#Miscellaneous (which does work now btw..)

I think it would be a good idea to bold the most common words and abbrevations. For example PG is way more common than perkele (which is a finnish word meaning something like hell...). And I have never ever seen anyone use the words "Californa", "Nevada" or "Canada" to refer to an in-game location, maybe it's only a very limited amount of americans who use them, I think they should be removed.Elwen 21:35, 4 March 2009 (UTC)

would not be against that, the entire page could use a cleanup too. -- Sixorish 22:50, 4 March 2009 (UTC)

I agree that this article needs to be cleaned up. Many in-game abbreviated names are valid, as in not violating Policy. The Real life places, slang, and emoticons while strictly not about Tibia, are in fact used in Tibia. The slang should only be common things, and some belong in previous sections. Some like 'Florida' are only relevant to specific servers. Lastly i was wondering about Tibia Ranks. I have never heard these and assume they are also server specific. If so they should be removed, possibly put on the specific server page.

New language terms?[]

Is there a way to propose adding new language terms, or a good place to ask what something means? I'm assuming this is the spot.

What does tp mean?

Additionally, someone told me that sometimes pl is used as an insult?

"tp" means Teleport.
I added "tp" to the article.
tp is redirecting to Teleport article now.

When pl is used as an insult it means the same as the nationality, although pl shouldn't actually offend anyone (usually the offensive part follows as an adjective) -- Sixorish 16:08, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

So when someone asks for "tp plz" they are asking you to help them teleport back to their home temple... exploiting a game weakness? And that should be reported to a gm? Miltonr 22:56, 5 June 2009 (UTC)miltonr

That's exactly right. beejay 23:14, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

AFF phrase[]

"Aff" also means "Away from friends" and is actively used by hundreds if not thousands of tibians. I have heard it many times as to refer to a possible future pk attempt, both in pvp or non-pvp.--Mentor Aragoth 12:28, October 21, 2009 (UTC)

Mt Sternum~[]

Just wondering why mount sternum was added in twice instead of just having Mts, DTD - Mount Sternum?
