[edit] Vials?

It seems that the vial is in nearly every lootplace, why?

I included empty vials so that you could decide if it was worth picking them up from the ground. They can usually be seen littering the floor of most caves, and they provide more gp/oz than some looted items.

Having vials in the list can also help you decide if you should drop your vials to pick up some other loot.

Yes, I know that no creatures actually drop empty vials, but they are abundant enough that I thought they should be included.

ok,thanks Mocca-Kahve 07:11, 6 July 2006 (PDT)

If most people think they should not be there, it's fine for them to be removed. I just thought it would be useful.

I've made a small note on the Vial page about this. It's visible in loot lists.

[edit] Change in the loot lists

In my honest opinion , when listing the items looted in some place , the monster tablet shouldn't hold monsters not found in that area , Is it worth changing that?

You are correct. Which ones have creatures that are not in the area?

[edit] Bags in monsters

I raise the question following question. Should bags, holding other items, contained in monsters be listed in the loot listing of monsters? This question spawns from the fact that some monsters (Dark Monks for example) can often contain two bags, the first is an empty bag that would no doubt be included as loot, the second bag is like other monsters and contains other items. Or at the other end of the scale, should both bags not be included in the loot listing?
Clarification on this matter would be much appreciated as some people believe that any bag should be listed as loot, whilst others believe only the before mentioned empty bags should be included. Apologies if this has been dealt with elsewhere or this isn’t the correct forum for such a question, however searching the site did not reveal an answer and this seemed the most appropriate location to ask.

I think that listing bags in creature loot is inconsequential. Maybe some lower-level players would be interested in knowing, but I find that so many different creatures drop bags, it is almost pointless to list them.

Concerning the availability of bags, they also seem to be found on the ground in many places (depots, banks, shops, etc.), so I do not think many players will be concerned with hunting a creature to collect one or more bags.

In my opinion, I find it to be unnecessary but not to be a nuisance. I would not bother to add or remove bags from creature loot lists.

So, in the nature of true indifference, I really do not care, and I have not noticed anyone else in the community to be very concerned about it. Whatever the majority opinion is... go with it.

Indeed bags shouldn't be added since they don't sell anywhere and their price is insignificant when selling runes or anything inside them, thus, they won't provide gold to the players, just more containers, but this is not the case for Pirate Bags, they should be listed.

Look what I did with Swamp Trolls, I posted some loot statistics on the talk page that clearly shows that torches and daggers are only dropped inside the bag inside the dead monster. That can be useful because as I found out during my hunts in the Shadow Caves many people only check the body for gold/meat/spears and they often don't check the bags, although those contain the silver amulets which are rarely dropped by Trolls, I made a nice collection of items with this knowledge. ;) Edwin de waterman  => Talk <=  Profile ·_· Contribs <·> 01:58, 3 August 2007 (PDT) <·>

[edit] Loot lists for Tombs

At this actual moment I am preparing loot lists for the 8 tombs. Should those be listed as Loot/Library Tomb, Loot/Shadow Tomb, etc. or as "Loot/Tombs", a page with those 8 tombs gathered?

Thanks /Art Featherpitch

Loot/Tombs would be most logical, because most of creatures are same in all tombs. --Ville-v 05:26, 16 February 2007 (PST)

K thank you, I'll go straight on with one huge list then. :)
Art Featherpitch

I'm not sure that would be very useful.

I think in the very least... each tomb should be listed separately. They do have similar creatures, but all of the tombs have different creatures as well, making them unique... especially at the lower levels. Having them all combined in one page would only be useful for people that hunt the upper levels.... if they go any lower, then the page becomes too difficult to use for any specific tomb.

Also, the page would be incredibly large and almost unusable because of the sheer size of the list.

"Aff" and I was just done with the lists :s whatever I separate them when I got time.
Art Featherpitch

Sorry about that. I was just trying to help. If the page it not even usable, then your time would have been wasted anyway.

At any rate, thanks for putting forth the effort to make those pages.

Alright, I'm making the basic structures for the tomb's loot lists (all the monsters + the GP in the actual list). Thank you Zvezdiica for completing them. I might also make a list called Loot/Upper Floor Tombs, with the easier monsters only.
Art Featherpitch

[edit] Dworc?

I guess the dungeon of dworc should be there too. It will be nice too see what you can loot there.

Zvezdiica 04:38, 23 March 2007 (PDT)

Good idea, I might start it soon.
Edit: thank you for starting it, I finished it.

[edit] About prices of items

People should use common sense in sorting loot lists; who would throw golden armor away and take two wooden shields instead, even though golden armor cannot be sold to npc? --Ville-v 03:22, 2 April 2007 (PDT)

I actually mentioned that on the Loot page under "Looting Guidelines" and "Assumptions". These lists are meant to be completely objective... the assumptions are very clear, and these lists are not a replacement for common sense, just a tool to help make decisions about what loot items to hang onto, and which ones to throw out if you run out of cap.

[edit] Wolf Tooth Chain

"A popular rumour says that wearing a Wolf Tooth Chain will increase the chance of dropping a rare item. This has been proven false since the loot of a monster is decided when the monster is spawned, not when killed."

It's just a doubt, who said that or prooved this sentence? Is this really trustable?

-- † Pudd Knight †  Talk  Contribs  -- 15:01, 5 April 2007 (PDT)

I am fairly sure this is true. Read up on some Knightmare interviews, because i believe he said this. Besides verbal proof, this also logically makes sense, as far as creature coding. For instance certain creatures are prone to drop certain items more or less per area. Hunt the rabbits (Easter) on rook and ones in certain areas all drop same color egg. The loot and what kind/how much is pre-programmed. That might be confusing, if so i can restate it. --19:34, 5 April 2007 (PDT)

So you're saying maybe, for example, dragons from edron have a different drop rate of certain item of the ankrahmun dragons? (JUST A EXAMPLE)

Also, you can give the link of this interview? I would like to read it. Thanks.

-- † Pudd Knight †  Talk  Contribs  -- 19:41, 5 April 2007 (PDT)

I am pretty sure loot is pre-calculated by the system, but until i or another proves one way or another it can remain off. I make this interpretation based on what i read in such interviews: They can be found at Tibianews.net here and here+. In the first one Knightmare says "I even checked the monsters loot and aked CIP to change it ... and could control which item is acessible what way I could actually use items as quest-items ... and edit the monsters loot." These and other things KM says seem, to me and some others, to imply that there are set parameters on loot content for area/creatures, meaning that the loot a creature drops is determined by the system program according to its area, not any external 'forces' like amulets. // Alternatively kill 20 of X creature with and without a lucky amulet and look for any difference.
--DM ><((°> Contribs <°))>< talk to me 21:04, 5 April 2007 (PDT)

I have used a Crystal Necklace during my Swamp Troll hunts the first time (just pure by accident I wore it, I'm often wearing it ;) ). As I heard of this rumor from a friend, I had put on a Wolf Tooth Chain on my second Swamp Troll hunt. From the first 100 creatures I got 1 fishing rod, from the second 100 I got none. This means it certainly does NOT increase the amount of rare drops. I didn't reply here earlier because I simply didn't know this discussion was going on :p And how the game is created I am ~99% sure that the loot is set per spawn, this because I've helped developing 2 other games with the same concept and because of the fact that Sam's Backpack is only dropped by Minotaurs in a specific area (just like the items from the Amazon Set). [edit] Proposal

I suggest to not add creatures without loot to the "creature overview" on this page. Although they are good to have on the actual loot pages, so nobody gets surprised by a not announced Fire Elemental.

cant see why not

Were the weights of the backpack or bag that these items would be contained in considered when the gp:oz ratio was calculated?. For instance diamonds and rubies only take up one backpack or bag space per hundred - so if we assume that they're always carried in backpacks of 20 cap then that's a constant addition of 1 oz per every 100 diamonds or rubies. However with vials they can't be stack and so add 1 oz per every single vial. This would make an amazing difference to the gp/oz ratio in some cases.

Craggles
[Random::Chat::Guild::Contributions::Tibicam Profile]

Yes, that was taken into account. A stackable item adds 0.009 oz (18 oz / 20 slots / 100 items per slot) to its "effective weight", and a non-stackable item adds 0.9 oz (18 oz / 20 slots) to its "effective weight". That is why the loot ratio for gold coins is not an even number (for example).

also boss loot could also be included, mabey in a sepperate table in some of these loot lists. for example, there could be another table with ferumbras loot on the Loot/Kharos page. ~elgarel kator

I can't agree on that, because bosses are random spawn, if they were more common maybe, also consider most of the bosses loot is similar to that it spawns with, other than the rare items like nose ring, which is not sold to NPCs, meaning it's price would not even be taken into account for what it's worth, seems like a waste of space IMO.
For your example:
0-3 Small Diamond -- First - Worth 300gp
Crystal Ring -- Second - Worth 0gp
Silver Amulet -- Third - Worth 50gp
Ferumbras' Hat -- Fourth - Worth 0gp
so, you see, those are the only things you'd see new if ferumbras were to be included, it goes by NPC price and not street price and thus bosses will not work
Sixorish ~~ Talk ~~ Contribs

Point taken ^^ ~Elgarel Kator

The stackable/not stackable part of the calculation in the template had been taken out, so I put it back. If anybody wants to change it again, they will have to change the information on the loot from "The weight for each item assumes that you will be carrying your loot in a backpack," to "The weight for each item assumes that you will be carrying your loot in your hands."

[edit] Job to do

People may have noticed that I didn't update the loot lists in a very long time. The reason is the constant flood of new items and hunting places, as well as the time it takes to make one of those lists. I wish we could use DPL lists for those pages, but it seems impossible.
Art Featherpitch 19:53, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

Actually, I wonder if people really use them. Maybe if you really hunt very much in one place, e.g. Cyclopolis it is usefull, but it misses it's purpose to make loot lists for every hunting place possible. Just keep it to the obvious places, I think. ^^ Bennie (talk ~ fellows) ^^ 20:27, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

as far as I can see it would be impossible to make DPL use it; also the strain it puts on the server seems to be significant enough for wikia to suggest we 'be careful with the usage' of it. Helpful or not, it'll negatively effect the performance of the wiki.. -- Sixorish 20:42, 11 January 2009 (UTC)
